Security Key Installation

To prevent unauthorized usage of Sixth Sense software, we require the use of security "keys". These keys are small plastic objects that plug into a USB port. In order for the software to operate, you must use either a "network key" with Licence Manager software, or an "individual key" for each computer, you have been provided with an appropriate key.

Installing:
Individual Keys:
Note: on multi-user setups, keys are only installed on computers that have the client software.
1. Choose a computer you want as a till.
2. Insert the Sixth Sense Software CD.
3. (Apple Macintosh) Run "askusb" installer
(Windows) Run "hdd32.exe"
4. Plug in the security key into a free USB port on your computer
5. Restart your computer

Network Keys:
1. Choose a computer you want as a server.
2. Insert the Sixth Sense Software CD.
3. (Mac OSX) Double click on LM_Setup_Mac.dmg to mount an image. Run the application on the image.
(Windows) Run lmsetup.exe
4. Plug in the security key into a free USB port on your computer
5. Restart your computer

Software Installation

Installing:
Single User:
1. Choose a computer you want to be a till.
2. Insert the Sixth Sense Software CD.
3. (Mac OSX) Copy Sixth Sense Cafe/POS to your Applications folder (will not work on the desktop).
(Mac OS9) Copy Sixth Sense Cafe/POS to your Applications folder.
(Windows) Copy Sixth Sense Cafe/POS to your Program Files folder.
Multi User:
1. Choose a computer you want to be a server.
2. Insert the Sixth Sense Software CD.
3. Copy the Server and Sixth Sense Software to Applications (Mac) or Program Files (Windows) folder.
5. On the client computers, copy the Client software off of the CD to Applications (Mac) or Program Files (Windows) folder.

Starting Up for the First Time

Single User | Multi User | Cafe Specific Information

Single User:
Read the instructions below, or watch a movie: Sixth Sense Cafe, Sixth Sense POS

1. Double click on the application file in the Sixth Sense folder
2. You will be prompted with a password window

3. Highlight "Owner" from the list.
4. Hit tab on the keyboard
5. Type Owner as written, capital 'O' lower case 'wner' (no apostrophes)
6. Click "OK" or hit Enter on the keyboard.
7. You are prompted for a datafile
8. Navigate through your computer until you have the Sixth Sense folder containing the POS software
9. Click the "New..." button
10. You are prompted for a name for the datafile, the default name is the one you should use - it should be the same as the name of application with ".data" on the end
11. Click "Save" or hit Enter on the keyboard
12. At the application splash screen, click "OK" or hit Enter on the keyboard
13. (POS only) Since Owner hasn't been set up as a cashier type '1' (or any number) for cashier number, hit "OK". Refer to the manual for information on setting up cashiers.
14. You will come to the main menu. Entering "System Preferences" is your next step.

Multi User:
Multi user setups require that you have a network connection, even you are running the client on the server computer, all computers must have an IP. For information on networking click Here.
1. Double click 4D Server application on the server computer
2. You are prompted for a serial number for 4D, this can be found on the cover letter sent to you by Sixth Sense. The software is preregistered, do not register the software, just click "OK".

3. You are prompted for an application to serve.
4. Change the pop-up menu from "Structure File" to "Compiled database"
5. Navigate to the Sixth Sense application on your hard drive, click "OK".
6. (optional) 4D server asks you to repeat steps 3-5 each time the server is started. To remove these steps, select the Sixth Sense application as a Startup Item through your operating system.
7. You are prompted for a datafile
8. Navigate through your computer until you have the Sixth Sense folder containing the POS software
9. Click the "New..." button
10. You are prompted for a name for the datafile, the default name is the one you should use - it should be the same as the name of application with ".data" on the end
11. Click "Save" or hit Enter on the keyboard
12. At the application splash screen, click "OK" or hit Enter on the keyboard
13. The server window opens. This shows network activity and which users are connected. When the server is running clients can connect.
14. Double click on 4D client on one of the tills.
15. You will be prompted to connect to a database (application). Select "TCP/IP", the server should be listed. If it is not, you do not have a network connection.
16. Highlight Sixth Sense, click "Connect".
17. You will be prompted with a password window
18. Highlight "Owner" from the list.
19. Hit tab on the keyboard
20. Type Owner as written, capital 'O' lower case 'wner' (no apostrophes)
21. Click "OK" or hit Enter on the keyboard.
22. You are prompted for a serial number for Sixth Sense Cafe/POS. This number is also on your cover letter.
23. At the application splash screen, click "OK" or hit Enter on the keyboard
24. (POS only) Since Owner hasn't been set up as a cashier type '1' (or any number) for cashier number, hit "OK". Refer to the manual for information on setting up cashiers.
25. You will come to the main menu. Entering "System Preferences" is your next step.

Many functions of Sixth Sense Cafe are password protected, so servers don't have access. By default, the password is blank and anyone can get access, to change this:
1. From the Main Menu click on "System Preferences" or hit F9 on the keyboard
2. Hit Enter at the password prompt
3. Click on the Software tab near the top of your screen
4. Click on the field next to "Manager's Overide Code"
5. Type in a password you will remember. Since this area is password protected by this password, it is impossible to change the password should you forget it.
6. Repeat for Manager's Overide Code with the a different password for the manager.
7. Hit "Save"
